Cookie Policy
Last updated: 21 October 2026
This policy explains how Convo & Co UK Limited (“we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on this website, thegen.app. It covers the website only. For how we handle personal information in general, including in The Gen app, see our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser. Some are needed for the site to work. Others, like analytics and marketing cookies, are optional, and we only use them if you say yes.
Your choice
When you first visit, we ask whether you accept analytics and marketing cookies. Accept and Reject are equal options, and nothing optional runs until you choose. Manage lets you choose analytics and marketing separately.
You can change your mind at any time using Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. If you turn analytics or marketing off, we stop that tool straight away and remove its cookies from your browser.
We remember your choice for 6 months, then ask again. If we change the cookies we use, we ask again sooner.
Cookies we use
Strictly necessary
Set by thegen.app and always on. Without this we couldn’t remember your choice.
| Cookie | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| gen_consent | Remembers your cookie choice | 6 months |
Analytics (only if you accept)
We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to see which pages people visit and which buttons they use, for example which app store link they tap. This helps us improve the site. If you reject, or don’t choose, Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics don’t load at all.
| Cookie | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Tells visits apart, so we can count visitors | 2 years |
| _ga_N2QPPZ7JQ4 | Keeps track of your visit | 2 years |
We have set Google Analytics up to collect as little as possible. Google signals and advertising features are off, and we don’t share this data with Google for its own purposes. Google Analytics doesn’t log or store IP addresses. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Marketing (only if you accept)
We use the Meta Pixel, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to see when people come to the site from our ads on Facebook and Instagram, and whether they go on to tap an app store link. Meta can also use it to show our ads to people who have visited the site. If you reject, or don’t choose, the Meta Pixel doesn’t load at all.
| Cookie | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| _fbp | Tells visits apart, so Meta can link them to our ads | 3 months |
| _fbc | Records that you arrived by tapping one of our ads (only set if you did) | 3 months |
Meta also uses this information for its own purposes, as described in Meta’s Privacy Policy.
Contact form
Our contact page uses a form from Typeform. Typeform sets a few cookies the form needs to work. Before it uses any others, for analytics or advertising, it asks for your consent inside the form. See Typeform’s cookie policy.
Visit counts without cookies
We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits to the site. It doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t store anything in your browser and doesn’t identify you.
Records of your choice
When you make a choice, we keep a record of it so we can show that consent was given. The record holds a random ID (also stored in your gen_consent cookie), the date and time, what you chose, the version of our cookie banner and the page you were on. It doesn’t include your name or your IP address. We keep these records for 2 years, then delete them.
Contact
If you have a question about cookies, email support@thegen.app. If you are unhappy with how we use cookies, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
