Getting Started
What is The Gen?
The Gen is a verified community app created for transgender, non-binary, gender-questioning and gender-exploring people. It is designed to help people meet, connect, join conversations and build community in a safer, more intentional space.
Who is The Gen for?
The Gen is for people who are transgender, non-binary, gender-questioning, gender-exploring or part of the wider gender-diverse community. Our focus is on creating a safer and more trusted space for people who often do not feel fully safe or seen on mainstream social platforms.
Is The Gen a dating app?
The Gen is not designed as a traditional dating app. The app is focused on community, connection, conversation and safe social discovery. Some people may make friends, find support or build deeper connections, but the purpose of The Gen is broader than dating.
How do I create an account?
Download The Gen app and follow the sign-up steps. You may be asked to create an account, complete verification and choose a subscription or trial option depending on the version of the app available at the time.
Why do I need to verify my account?
Verification helps us protect the community and reduce fake profiles, spam, bots and bad-faith users. The Gen is built around trust and safety, so verification is an important part of creating a better experience for everyone.
Verification & Safety
What does verification involve?
Verification may involve confirming your identity or checking that you are a real person. The exact process may vary depending on the verification provider used in the app. We use verification to help keep The Gen safer and more trusted.
Is my identity shown to other users?
No. Verification is used for safety and trust purposes. Your personal identity documents or private verification details are not shown publicly on your profile.
Why is verification important for The Gen?
Many mainstream platforms can feel unsafe for trans, non-binary and gender-diverse people because of harassment, fake profiles, trolling or fetishisation. Verification helps us create a safer space where people can connect with more confidence.
Can I use The Gen anonymously?
You can choose how you present yourself on your profile, but The Gen may still require account verification behind the scenes. This helps protect the community while allowing users to express themselves safely.
What should I do if someone makes me feel unsafe?
If another user makes you feel unsafe, uncomfortable or harassed, you should report them through the app where available. You can also contact support@thegen.app. Please include as much detail as possible, such as the user’s profile name, what happened and when it happened.
What happens when I report someone?
We review reports and take action where needed. This may include warnings, restrictions, account suspension or removal from the platform. We may not always be able to share the outcome of a report, but every report helps us protect the community.
Mixers & Community Features
What are Mixers?
Mixers are spaces where users can meet and connect with others in the app. Depending on the version of the app, Mixers may include text, audio or video-based conversations.
Are Mixers public or private?
Mixers are designed for The Gen community. The exact privacy settings may vary depending on the feature, but only verified app users should be able to access community spaces.
Can I create my own Mixer?
Where this feature is available, users may be able to create or join Mixers. The aim is to help the community start conversations, meet new people and create safe spaces around shared topics or interests.
What should I talk about in a Mixer?
You can use Mixers to meet people, share experiences, ask questions, talk about interests or join community discussions. Please keep conversations respectful, inclusive and safe for others.
What behaviour is not allowed?
The Gen does not allow harassment, hate speech, threats, bullying, sexual harassment, impersonation, spam, doxxing or behaviour that makes the community unsafe. Users who break community rules may have their access restricted or removed.
Subscriptions & Payments
Is The Gen free to use?
The Gen may offer free access, a free trial or a paid subscription depending on the version of the app and current launch stage. The app will clearly show any pricing before you choose to subscribe.
How much does The Gen cost?
After your 28-day free trial, membership is £4.99 a month for your first three months, then £7.99 a month. An annual plan is available at £47.99 a year.
Prices are shown in the app before you confirm. Booking a one-to-one session with a Pro is paid separately.
Why is The Gen a paid app?
A paid model helps us invest in safety, verification, moderation, community support and a better product experience. Our aim is to build a high-quality, trusted space rather than a platform driven by ads or unsafe growth mechanics.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through the app store account you used to subscribe. For Apple devices, manage your subscription through your Apple ID settings. For Android devices, manage your subscription through Google Play subscriptions. Deleting the app does not automatically cancel your subscription.
Can I get a refund?
It depends what you paid for.
Membership subscriptions are billed through the App Store or Google Play, so refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies. If you subscribed on an iPhone or iPad, request a refund through Apple. If you subscribed on Android, request it through Google Play.
One-to-one sessions with a Pro are paid separately and are not handled by Apple or Google. If you need a refund for a session, contact us at support@thegen.app.
If you’re not sure which applies, email us and we’ll point you the right way.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. New members get 28 days free, and you don’t need to enter payment details to start.
When your trial ends, membership is £4.99 a month for your first three months, then £7.99 a month. There’s also an annual plan at £47.99 a year.
You’ll always see the current price in the app before you confirm anything.
Account Help
I can’t log in. What should I do?
First, check that you are using the same login method you originally used to create your account. If you still cannot access your account, contact support@thegen.app. Please include the email address or login method connected to your account where possible.
I did not receive a verification or login email. What should I do?
Check your spam, junk or promotions folder first. If the email still has not arrived, try again after a few minutes. If the issue continues, contact support.

If you can’t get into the app, you can request deletion at Delete your The Gen account.
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel that separately through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings, or you may continue to be charged.
Full details, including what we delete and what we have to keep, are on our account deletion page.
What happens when I delete my account?
When your account is deleted, your profile and personal account information will be removed or anonymised where required. Some information may need to be retained for legal, safety, fraud prevention or compliance reasons.
